Foundation stone laid for HQE with high-rise residential building PHIL

Essen, 17 December 2019. Last Friday the foundation stone for the new Huyssen Quarter in Essen (HQE) was laid in the presence of Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen and the investors Dr Peter Jänsch, Olaf Meyers and Kerstin Memering. The new building ensemble will create a modern, urban quarter in which people will be able to develop and feel good individually after completion: "The HQE will be a sustainable and independent quarter in which people will be able to live, work and relax at a high level of individuality.

The HQE is being built on Huyssenallee/corner of Heinrichstraße directly opposite the Philharmonic, the Aalto Theater and the Stadtgarten. The building ensemble with approx. 28,000 m³ gross floor space will be constructed in five parts on a site area of 3,800 m². Over 100 apartments as well as office and commercial space will be created. The high-rise residential building "Phil" offers about 7,100 m² living space in 65 residential units over 18 floors. Two apartment buildings will contain 44 residential units with approximately 2,500 m² of living space, 22 of which will be publicly subsidized. In addition, there will be an office building with approximately 4,200 m² of floor space that has already been leased from the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The three-storey underground car park will provide around 200 parking spaces for cars and more than 100 bicycle stands. Inside the HQE, generous open spaces will be created with a high quality of stay and playground facilities for children. The entire project is scheduled for completion by March 2022.

"I welcome the Huyssen Quarter Essen project. We need strong partners for our urban development and for the creation of living space," commented Mayor Thomas Kufen on the project," he added.

"After the deconstruction of the old existing buildings and the excavation work, we can finally start building HQE", Kerstin Memering, the managing director responsible for project development at immostore GmbH, is pleased to announce. "I am convinced that HQE is an enrichment for Essen and especially Huyssenalle, fits perfectly into the urban development and will offer future users a modern and highly attractive environment in which families, couples, singles and employees can develop individually, whether at work or in their own four walls".

The HQE was designed by the architects VSI and HPP. ZECH Bau, Essen branch, was commissioned as general contractor for the turnkey construction.
